The Cambridge Room Competition

Cambridge, United Kingdom
The 'Cambridge Room' competition, a collaborative effort by The Cambridge Association of Architects with the University of Cambridge, Cambridge City Council, and South Cambridge District Council, sought visionary concepts and logos for an Urban Room dedicated to discussing urbanism in Cambridge, be it a permanent location or a temporary pop-up.
In response, "The Cambridge Panorama Pavilion" proposes a captivating solution situated on Parker’s Piece. This open-air pavilion, adorned with suspended artworks, harmoniously blends diverse elements to depict Cambridge's rich history. The proposed logo, featuring columns, symbolizes the unity of narratives and intertwining cultural, historical, and academic pillars—a fitting embodiment for the envisioned Urban Room. The Pavilion invites visitors to explore the city's vibrant essence, contributing to the dynamic narrative of Cambridge's ever-evolving story.

AIA UK Student Charrette Competition

London, United Kingdom
The one-day design challenge presented in the brief is to design a new public space for South Crescent, catering to the daily influx of people passing through the area such as university students, office workers, tourists etc. The competition emphasizes the use of analogue methods, requiring teams to think and draw quickly without digital technology, guided by practicing architects.
In response to this, the group's proposal embraces the analogue approach, where swift sketches and hands-on model making played a crucial role. The design aligns with the brief by integrating seamlessly with the recently added Alfred Place Gardens, expanding the public realm beyond lunchtime utility. Elevated on concrete beams, the proposal allows for the continued functionality of car roads while creating a stepped-down public plaza. Furthermore, this plaza is designed to accommodate diverse activities such as art, music, public speaking, catering to various demographics and contributing to a vibrant and dynamic public space.
